Song: Things have gone to pieces Artist: George Jones
Oh, the faucet started drippin' in the kitchen, And last night your picture fell down from the wall. Today the boss said: "Sorry, I can't use you any more." And tonight the light bulb went out in the hall.
Things have gone to pieces since you left me. Nothing turns out half right now, it seems. There ain't nothing in my pocket, but three nickels and a dime, But I'm holding to the pieces of my dream.
Somebody threw a baseball through my window, And the arm fell off my favorite chair again. The man called me today and said he'd haul my things away, If I didn't get my payments made by ten.
Things have gone to pieces since you left me. Nothing turns out half right now, it seems. There ain't nothing in my pocket, but three nickels and a dime, But I'm holding to the pieces of my dream.

Good song by a great singer. I hadn't heard that one before. Thanks for finding it for us. I really like the high and tight haircut, he looks like Sergeant Carter from Gomer Pyle. Shame they don't make country music like that any more.

Artist: Hank Locklin Song: Country Hall Of Fame
(I agree revilo. I'll be sitting in the lunchroom at school listening to my ipod or mp3, and people ask me what im listening too, i reply, and they get dumbfounded. Who's George Jones? or Who's Hank Locklin, or Who's Porter Wagoner? I just tell em' they are the best Country still has to offer, because when they sang it came from the heart, not for money.)
I was roaming round in Nashville in the state of Tennessee For I love that country music it's as soulful as can be I have gathered their the records for I cherished every name So I found myself a standing in the Country Hall of Fame My heart beat somewhat faster as I walked in through the door For I heard the sound of voices I had often heard before A happy kind of sadness brought a teardrop to my eye Now I'll tell you what I saw there and I'm sure that you'll see why
Jimmie Rodgers' railroad lantern and his faithful old guitar I could hear that old blue yodel coming from somewhere afar Roy Acuff in bronze likeness with that great Fred Rose his friend And I heard that Wabash Cannonball somewhere around the bend The guitar of Eddy Arnold memories of Cattle Call Chet Atkins will be with him when the work's all done this fall From the autoharp of Maybelle Wildwood Flower seems to ring Riley Puckett and Gid Tanner how they all could pick and sing
I could hear George Hay announcin' as I stood there in the room I could hear Tex Ritter singing his classic song High Noon Minnie Pearl so glad to be there and Hank Snow keeps Movin' On May the Lord bless those still living and the ones who's joined his throne Cowboy Copas Hankshaw Hawkins Gentleman Jim and Patsy Cline Rod Bradsfield Ira Louvin these stars will always shine Ernest Tubb and great Red Foley and Hank Williams bless his name Though some are gone they'll live forever in the Country Hall of Fame

Artist: Jimmie Rodgers (30's Country Artist) Song: Waiting For A Train (Digging through family records and stories, my Grandpa told me about two months before he died that his uncle's, my great-great uncle, name was Buddy Rodgers. He said somewhere through the line, it is doccumented we are related to the founding father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers. He had an album of Jimmie Rodgers just playing his guitar, and he used to play some Jimmie Rodgers when he would play his guitar when I visited.)

Song: Running Bear (During his 17 #1 hit streak on the charts.) Artist: Sonny James (The Southern Gentleman)
On the bank of the river stood Running Bear, young Indian brave On the other side of the river stood his lovely Indian maid Little White Dove was her name, such a lovely sight to see But their tribes fought with each other, so their love could never be
CHORUS: Running Bear loved Little White Dove With a love big as the sky Running Bear loved Little White Dove With a love that couldn't die
He couldn't swim the raging river 'cause the river was too wide He couldn't reach the Little White Dove waiting on the other side In the moonlight he could see her throwing kisses 'cross the waves Her little heart was beating faster waiting for her Indian brave
CHORUS
Running Bear dove in the water, Little White Dove did the same And they swam out to each other through the swirling stream they came As their hands touched and their lips met, the raging river pulled them down Now they'll always be together in their happy hunting ground
CHORUS

With this being Pocono week, I always enjoy this song I found a year or two ago by a singer-songwriter named Mark Miklos.

I got my internet back today, and I wanted to update to the "Song Of The Day" thread. Here is one of my all time favorite gospel songs, "When God Dips His Love In My Heart".
Song: When God Dips His Love In My Heart Artist: Hank Williams
When God dips His pen of love in my heart And writes my soul the message He wants me to know His spirit all divine fills this sinful soul of mine When God dips His love in my heart I said I wouldn't tell it to a living soul How He brought salvation when He made me whole But I found I couldn't hide Such love as Jesus did impart It makes me laugh and it makes me cry Sets my sinful soul on fire When God dips His love in my heart He walked every step up Calvary's ragged way And He gave His life completely to bring a better day My life was lost in sinned but in love He took me in His blood washed all my sins away I said I wouldn't tell it to a living soul How He brought salvation when He made me whole But I found I couldn't hide Such love as Jesus did impart It makes me laugh and it makes me cry Sets my sinful soul on fire When God dips His love in my heart

Here's a 1954 Classic By Ray Price, called "Release me". Song: Release Me Artist: Ray Price (I have television performance and studio version)
Lyrics: Please release me, let me go I don't love you anymore To live together is a sin Release me and let me love again
Oh, I have found a new love dear And I'll always want her near Her lips are warm while yours are cold Release me darling, let me go
Please release me, let me go I don't love you anymore To waste our life would be a sin Release me and let me love again
Please release me, let me go I don't love you anymore To live together is a sin Release me and let me love again
Let me love Let me love Let me love again

This song is from one of the best brother duos in Country Music in my opinion. They have a harmony that sounds so good with Country And Gospel, and those brothers are The Louvin Brothers. The song is "Are You Afraid To Die?", a song I had heard on IHeartRadio's Louvin Brothers station.
Artist: The Louvin Brothers Song: Are You Afraid To Die
Lyrics: Are you a stranger to God Carried away with your pride Tell me sinner did you ever stop to think Are you afraid to die
Are you afraid Are you unsaved Are you afraid to die
Call on him while he's near Moments are swift passing by Will you seek him where he may be found Are you afraid to die
Are you too wicked to cry Would you to God's bosom fly Soon he's coming like a thief in the night Are you afraid to die

The song of the day is one that everyone associates with Johnny Cash. The man who wrote and sung it, his name was Glen Sherley, a prisoner at Folsom Prison. Johnny Cash performed the song at Folsom and told the crowd it was Glen Sherley's song. Glen Sherley's was given an opportunity but life in prison had changed him, and although he had a brief, successful tenure in Country Music, his lifestyle put him working on a cattle farm, before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on May 11th, 1978. The song is "Greystone Chapel."
Artist: Glen Sherley Song: Greystone Chapel
Lyrics:
There's a grey stone chapel here at Folsom, a house of worship in this den of sin. You wouldn't think that God had a place here at Folsom, but he saved the soul of many lost men.
Now this grey stone chapel here at Folsom, stands a hundred years old made of granite rock. It takes a ring of keys to move here at Folsom, but the door to the house of God is never locked.
Inside the walls of prison my body may be but the Lord has set my soul free.
There are men here that don't ever worship. There are men here who scoff at the ones who pray. But I've got down on my knees in that grey stone chapel, and I've thanked the Lord for helping me each day.
Now this grey stone chapel here at Folsom, it has a touch of God's hand on every stone. It's a flower of light in a field of darkness, and it's given me the stregth to carry on.
Inside the walls of prison my body may be, but my Lord has set my soul free.

I was listening to a television performace of "Still" by Bill Anderson when I found this song. I heard it and instantly I liked this one alot. Two of the greats of Country Music, Bill Anderson and Roy Acuff. (Music Video and Live Grand Ole Opry Version) Title: I Wonder If God Likes Country Music Artist: Bill Anderson and Roy Acuff
Lyrics; One night we were out on tour, Getting ready to do a show. It wasn't anything special, Just another one night stand. When I looked over my guitar, And there stood an old man. His cowboy clothes were frayed and worn, An' his boots were far from new. He said: "I'd like to sit in with your band. "You see I'm a country singer too." Well, we just all had a big laugh. And when I looked back at the old man, There was a tear in his eye. I told the band to cool it 'cause I didn't want to see him cry. He reached down an' he took my guitar, With a determined look on his face. But then as he started to play an' sing, A look of sadness took it's place.
He said: "I've sang my songs from Maine to California. "Seen the world through the window of a car. "I never saved a dime back when I made one. "'Cause I always thought some day I'd be a star." "But now my voice is cracked and no one wants me. "My wife gave up on me years ago. "It's been so long my kids don't even know me. "And pickin' and singin' is the only life I've known." And then he sang: "I wonder if God likes country music. "Will there be a place up there to sing my songs? "Will he make my fingers nimble like they used to be, "So I can play the chords and sing along?" ("I wonder if God likes country music.") I just stood there. ("Will there be a place up there,) None of us really knew what to say. (To sing my songs?") He took my old guitar, ("Will he make my fingers nimble,) And he put it down ever so gently. ("Like they used to be?") And then as he turned to leave, ("So I can play the chords,) The band stood up and applauded ("And sing along?") And I can still hear his words today. "I wonder if God likes country music. "Will there be a place up there to sing my songs? "Will he make my fingers nimble like they used to be, "So I can play the chords and sing along?"

With this week being Kentucky week I picked one of the most famous (if not the most famous) song by the Father of Bluegrass Music, Blue Moon of Kentucky by Bill Monroe.
Lyrics: Blue moon of Kentucky, keep on shining Shine on the one that's gone and proved untrue Blue moon of Kentucky, keep on shining Shine on the one that's gone and left me blue It was on one moonlight night Stars shining bright Whisper on high Love said goodbye Blue moon of Kentucky keep on shining Shine on the one that's gone and left me blue (repeat)
