I have been a builder of model cars for many years, I currently have a themed collection of any model kit depicting any Petty racer or the association of. I would one day love to say that I built at least 1 car for every year the pettys raced. In this thread I will display the car , maybe show some before and after shots and tell a little about each car. I hope you will enjoy. I have lots to post early then I will post them as I get em done. Please feel free to post your petty builds in this thread, I love great ideas.

Heres the 1st Lee Petty's 1955 Chrysler This model started as a motorworx diecast. Sometimes I use diecast kits because resins are too expensive and I can find diecast cheap at flea markets. This car was completely disassembed repainted and rebuilt, the whitewalls were turned around and decals were added. I fabricated the dirt screen with mesh and a tooth pick. before I will try to add one new car each day until all of my kits are displayed

In 1958 richard petty ran his 5th race of his career just a couple of miles from where i live at the wilson county fairgrounds dirt track. he finished in 5th place. Many think he ran a blue 43 with red numbers but that was not until 1959- he used his dads extra car in 58 using the numbers 42, 2, 0r 142 This is also diecast. before

This is my 1964 Plymouth Dirt track car. It started as a Johan 1/25 scale kit , I made the screen and oversprayed orange paint on the car to simulate that southeast red clay

this is my 1968 Roadrunner , i built this kit a long time ago- it was originally an AMT stock roadrunner, I made the modifications to make it a race car. After years of collecting dust it fell into dispare so I almost trashed it. I found all of the bumpers , grille, hood , wheels ect and threw it into the freezer for disassembly. I did not repaint it - I cleaned it and put a fresh coat of clear on it to freshen it up. I am going to repaint the wheels blue. I was glad to save this one before restoration after with still the original paint

maybe a 71 roadrunner is for you- This car was built with scrap parts and pieces from 4 different junk kits - the numbers and pepsi logo came from an injet printer this is a very old and primative model.
