Wow! It still seems like yesterday but it also seems like forever. I still remember the moment I learned of Adam's death. I had to leave my workspace in my lab and just go and close myself up in the men's room for a little while. So close I came to just never watching or caring about Nascar again. I know many of you feel and felt the same. He was our legacy. He was our Petty to charge us up for the next twenty years. . It wasn't to be, my friends. I can't blame God even though I may not understand why. I may never understand why. I guess I don't want to understand why. But, the Lord is my Shepherd. . . .

Unfortunately we were never able to see what Adam or Kenny could do in life and on the race track, left left too early and are sorely missed.
I never understood why Neil came back, guess he just had the bug. It took Earnhardt's death for Nascar to really take a look at the safety of it's drivers just like the circumstances of Glen Roberts death and the loss of Billy Wade and Joe Weatherly among others.
Sometimes it is hard to see things but we are still saddened by the loss of loved ones and people we care about. It never really goes away.
Allan was very intelligent and could set up a car as good as any. When he first came to Winston Cup he had one car, two engines and only a handful of crewman but was very respectable.
Davey knew every inch of a race car as his Father taught him well. There is little doubt that he would have been a Champion.
Losing Earnhardt was very sad as well. Anybody can say anything but deep down we wish that he was still here. His presence outside of a car gave us a glimpse of who he really was.
When we lose someone we care about and love it is very hard to turn the corner and move on. We have to do this but it is still there ....it is always there.

And Richard said at the time of Adam's passing that his mother always taught him to never put a question mark when God has placed a period. That has really stuck with me.

I never heard that quote before. Those are profound words from Elizabeth Petty.
Thanks Chili.

I've looked all over for that article. I just re-read it within the last couple of months....it seems to me it was done at Texas the first time back after Adam's accident and the majority of the interview was with Kyle. Kyle talked about his Methodist upbringing and then Richard was asked about Adam's death and if he questioned safety, etc., and that was when he said that. It could have been a Dallas Morning News article. I will search their archives, too. But it kind of sticks in my mind that it might have been a Sports Illustrated one.

I remember that quote but don't remember where I saw it at either, very true tho a favorite proverb of mine that is appropiate to me too in those circumstance is , " Be careful what you lay at the doorstep of the Lord" praphrasing it and don;t remember what verse, that rings so true to me as well
