Re the odd look inside Richard's Torino.

A couple observations. One, look how much passenger compartment is behind the driver; in particular, it's about a mile to the rear window.
And see how far up the passenger compartment sheet metal goes?
In the prepaint view below, it looks like the bottom of the rear window is about the same height as the middle of the windshield.
This shot is a similar angle to the Petty/Scott photo rick posted about. Notice you cannot see out the back window. All you see is the painted sheet metal inside the car.
And even at this shallow angle, you still cannot see out the back window.
So in the original race photo above, it is just interior sheet metal that we are looking at behind Richard.
