I thought it would be cool to have a thread where you could post your favorite hunting stories. It doesn't just have to be deer hunting, either. It can be anything you want. I'll start. Yesterday morning we went hunting and we were fixing to leave and walked to the edge of the garden to look for signs of deer. A buck came trotting down through the pasture beside us and Dad stopped him by saying "merp." (Lol, that sounds stupid when you read it, but it really works. It sounds kinda like a doe bleat). I took aim and shot. I looked up and saw him running off, he kinda stumbled a little bit and then picked back up. I almost knew I hit him, but I wasn't sure. We went down in the pasture to look for blood, and at first didn't find any, but then we found a lot. We walked a little ways over to the fence and saw his head sticking up, so we thought he was alive. He was dead, but what happened was he got his antlers caught in the fence when he fell. (Dad poked him in the eyeball, it looked weird. And it took us forever to get him untangled from the fence, and, the vines). He was a HUGE bodied deer, he just had a tiny deformed rack. It had three points on one side and the other was a spike. It got broke or something. But what's great is, that was my first deer! One shot, one deer. First time I ever shot at a deer, and my brother's so jealous. Number one, he didn't want me to shoot a deer at all, (attitude) and number two, he's got like 15 shots and three deer, I've got 1-1. WOOT! I was so excited. It was funny, I was singing songs in a really high pitched voice going home. "I shot a deeeeeer!"
So what's your story?

Lol, Pmossberg. I used a 2-70 rifle. It's my Dad's. It has cool engravings on it. Two deer on one side running through the woods. Two bear on the other in the woods. It's really pretty.

This isn't a hunting story but it is a deer story. Just last week, a guy made the news for the stinking pile of dead deer in his backyard!! Neighbors a half mile away could smell them. He was contracted by PennDOT to pick up the road kills in 5 counties. His truck broke down and he couldnt get them to the landfill but the deceased just kept on coming, so he piled them in his yard while the truck got repaired! The news photos were just lovely.

I remember when the Pa. Game Commission picked up road kills. Since when does PennDOT sub-contract that job? They used to have pits in the woods where they would dump them, then push dirt on top of them. Now they go in sanitary landfills? Just another one of Pennsylvania's better ideas. Well, I am off to the deer camp on Sunday. I'll be cooking for a bunch of hungry hunters. Up at 3:30 to get breakfast ready so they can be on the mountain by 5:30 or 6:00, then cook dinner.

First deer I shot was a spike,he took off runnin and circled around in like a horseshoe and went head first into a dead tree layin on the ground and broke off one of it's spikes, that made for a real good head mount a one spike deer. It was the only deer I killed, really never took to hunting. Dirtbikes, 4 wheelers, football and racin for me.
