Bubba Wallace returning to the #43 next season 8:20 AM ET Jayski.com Staff Facebook Twitter Facebook Messenger Pinterest Email print Richard Petty and Darrell Wallace Jr. did not officially announce plans for the No. 43 team next season, but both indicated Tuesday they would be remaining together.
"Yeah, Bubba will be with us again next year," said Petty at the NASCAR Hall of Fame after unveiling Wallace's throwback car for Darlington. "From the standpoint that he's still learning - he's a rookie, a lot of these tracks he's never been to, and we got a new car with Chevrolet.
"So, we're trying to learn the driver and the car, and all of us [are] trying to learn together. It's been a real learning process. Right now, we're too slow learning. We got to speed that up."
"We're working on that right now," Wallace said of his contract and 2019 plans. "It's a positive look for us - we just started this deal, and we formed this relationship back as soon as I stepped foot on the grounds for Pocono last year. So we're in a good spot for sure. We're still working on all the details, but I'm excited to be where I'm at right now."

It's being reported that Bubba has actually signed a two year extension of the current contract. So that would keep him around through 2020.

That is good to hear as that at least allows them to build as a team. But they are in need of some big time dollars, did anybody catch Bubba's interview a week ago or so about being a low funded team that its easy for them to get behind the eight ball quickly if things go wrong. I'm sure this wreck last week will set the team back in both dollars and a car.

They better find them a better car or after next year Bubba will be looking. Look at Almirola stepped into a better car and it shows right away. Richards team has got to find 3 mph or better in their cars. When you are straight up a lap down on a 11/2 mile track after 35 laps you're only waiting for attrition to hopefully get you a top 20 finish.
It's been this way since he retired. Since then the closest thing they had to a competitive car was when Bobby Hamilton was driving.
Every week I continue to be optimistic for some solid top 20 qualifying just isn't happening.
I think Richard has a VERY good driver in Wallace give the man a car.
