Listen to this speech from 1964 by Ronald Reagan. Its amazing the insight this man had. Hope you all are not tired of my political post. Just hate the direction our country is heading. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt1fYSAChxs

No wonder so many Republicans take great pride in calling themselves Reagan Republicans. I count myself among them when they are truly in that fold. Not tired at all apttyfn. I think it is good for some of us to have an outlet here to express our fears and frustrations. Besides, the dems are trying to race us into communism.

Thanks Tom. I heard bit and pieces of this speech on Limbaughs show this week and I said WOW. Reagan had the liberals pegged to a tee. So I search on youtube and after listening to it I was amazed how it applied to today. Great speech.

I heard the clips on Limbaugh too this week. I'm ashamed to admit that I was too young and disinterested at the time to appreciate Reagan. If only we could get him back!

Why can't we find someone with that kind of faith in our Constitution and freedom today? Everyone seems to be afraid to speak out in favor of faith and decency and free economy. Have we as a nation become so weak that we are willing to give up our freedom in return for reliance on the government to supply our daily needs? Please do not take this as a racist statement, but I believe that, as a white middle class man, I have become a second-class citizen. My demographic no longer matters to anyone except as a source of tax dollars to be doled out to those who choose not to work for their living, but to take the free handout from the government. America is the last bastion of freedom. There is no place to escape to from here. And our freedoms are being taken away at an alarming rate while we sit quietly by and watch it happen. I feel terrible for my children. What will be left for them? Where have all the Ronald Reagans gone?

Public note to apttyfn...you might spot the "edited by pmossberg" note on your initial post. All I did was correct the spelling of President Reagan's name. Hope I didn't over-step my admin rights.
Back on topic...it amazes me that this man, dismissed by many as just a recycled actor, may well go down as one of our greatest presidents.
