The well known Pillars of Creation. These tremendous columns of gas are nurseries for newborn stars. The basic elements of life are in full view here as the swirling gas in this galaxy closely resembles that of fine polished marble. This blanket of gas welcomes you to lay down and get some sun. The finest painters of the renassiance period knew these colors well. The work of all involved with the Hubble program, the Spitzer Telescope and the Kandra observatory among others is astounding. Some of the imgages found at Hubblesite.org are actually compositions of at least two space telescopes and ground based platforms. Many images were taken over a period of several months or longer and put together like a puzzle. The mathematics involved is mind boggling and the images are unbeleivable. Scientists have discovered that clusters of galaxies ribbon like strands of pearls through out the expanse of space. The Hubble in particular can see well enough to document the universe in it's infancy.
