So tonight's show was a bit shorter (only four hours instead of six hours), but equally powerful. I think it got off to a slow start with Aretha and her guests. But the guitarists Jeff Beck hosted really screamed. And the show really picked up a head of steam when Ozzi Osbourne joined Metallica. The final set hosted by U2 was unbelievable. The duet (one might call it a duel) between Mick Jaggar and Fergie on "Gimme Shelter" was incredible. Here are the Oct 30 performers: Aretha Franklin with guests Annie Lenox and Lenny Kravits Jeff Beck with guests Sting, Billy Gibbons and Buddy Guy. Beck’s bassist was Tal Wilkenfeld, a 23 year old phenomenon from Australia. She was absolutely superb! I've read about Tal before. Check her out at www.talwilkenfeld.com/Metallica with guests Lou Reed, Ozzie Osbourne and Ray Davies (The Kinks) U2 with guests Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, the Black Eyed Peas, Mick Jagger and Fergie This has been an amazing two nights and ten hours of rock and roll. I hope ya'll enjoyed the little bit I was able to share. Tickets were a bit pricey but not completely out of line with today's going rates. But I figure it came to about $50 per hour. Heck, local mechanics charge way more than that around here. Paul, it sounds like you had a great time at the shows. Concerts like that don't come along very often, so you have to take advantage. Glad to hear you had a good time. I hope you got some sleep afterward. Brace yourself, it looks like we might have some good racing this weekend, too.
