Courtesy of the Hubble Space Telescope and brilliant scientists around the world the above image is a collage of long exposures taken over an extended period of time.

This edge on view of the galaxy below looks so clear and close that you can almost touch it. The Hubbles abilty to resolve imiages is astounding.

This image is from Hubble's deep field survey. Again long exposures bring the universe into view. Just about everything in this image is a galaxy or galaxies. To put this in perspective the objects shown here are contained in a width of a dime that is 75 feet away.
