1966 - Darel Dieringer finishes 35th in the #43 Petty Plymouth in the Peach Blossom 500 at Rockingham. Richard did not race because of recent hand surgery.

1977 - Richard wins the Carolina 500 at The Rock, North Carolina Motor Speedway.

1983 - Richard wins a classic battle with Bill Elliott in the Carolina 500 at Rockingham.
