1958 - Lee wins a 200 lap race at Wilson Speedway, a half-mile dirt track in Wilson, NC.
1969 - Richard finishes 2nd to long time rival David Pearson in the Cracker 200 at Augusta (GA) Speedway.
1975 - Richard wins the Southeastern 500 at Bristol. Yes, the SOUTHEASTERN 500 - not the Valleydale Meats, Food City, Sharpie, or Busch 500. Interestingly, only 23 cars started the race.
1980 - Kyle (14th) in only his 7th career Cup race finishes ahead of Richard (33rd) for the first time in the Atlanta 500. Dale Earnhardt wins his 2nd career Cup race, and a no-name, afro'd, midwesterner named Rusty Wallace finishes 2nd in his debut Cup race.
