Hey Rick, I saw in the Cali thread that you live in Frederick, Maryland. If you get around the Independent Hose Company in town you can see an example of the work I do. I design trucks like the canteen / rehab in the picture below. This truck was built by the company I work for, but a little before my time. Joe  |

Thank you Joe. I appreciate that. sounds like a very interesting job that you have. I think that there is a company outisde of Frederick that builds vehicles like this. What acutally are units like these used for ? It looks like an ambulance, is there more to it ?

This truck is used at fires and other emergencies to prepare and serve food and drinks for firefighters. We take a bare chassis and cab and custom design and build the finished product. I will show you the process in a few pics. First, the cab and chassis:  Then the walls get framed  |

Following up, the interior is added, including a generator, hot and cold running water, refrigerator, cook top, countertops and cabinets, coffee makers, microwaves, and drink servers.   |

Great job here Joe, I had no idea. You would think that Canteen would tell me something ....
I can imagine that trucks like these have been getting a work out in Californie this year.

Nice going Rev!!!! It does look like you enjoy what you are doing! Design and R and D really are fun. I do R and D as a senior tech for Polycom and I like it a lot.

I work "with" an outfit called KME ( Kovatch ). They are the third largest fire apparatus manufacture in the country.
