1952 - Lee finishes 2nd to Buck Baker in a 200 lap race at Columbia (SC) Speedway.

1970 - Pete Hamilton wins the inaugural Alabama 500 at Talladega in the Petty Enterprises Plymouth Superbird. Richard finishes 7th.
