1964 - Richard finishes 3rd in the Savannah 200 at Savannah Speedway.

1983 - Richard wins the Winston 500 at Alabama International Motor Speedway, later known as Talladega Superspeedway.

The race is perhaps better remembered for the wild ride taken by Phil Parsons - flipping that resembled Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights!
