1962 - Richard finishes 6th in the Hickory 250. 1968 - Richard finishes 3rd in the Fireball 300 at Asheville - Weaverville Speedway. 1974 - Richard finishes 3rd in the Winston 500 at Talladega, and teammate Hershel McGriff finishes 12th. 1985 - Awful Bill from Dawsonville unlaps himself twice under green at Talladega and wins the Winston 500. Lost amidst this great feat is the fact that Kyle Petty finishes 2nd. 2002 - Steve Grissom finishes 8th in the #44 Georgia Pacific Dodge in the Pontiac Excitement 400 at Richmond. PettyCash was there. After a rain delay on Saturday night, the race started. But then a deluge hit, and the race was postponed to Sunday afternoon. What a mess Saturday night was. But good run by Grissom on Sunday.

I read in the "nascar cheeters book" that ford body was undersize they said it would punch a smaller hole in the air and it did, the Elliots did such a good job on all the car no one noticed it. Smokey Yunic tried that once but didnt do anything with the axels and the wheels stuck out too far and he didnt pass insp.
