1962 - Maurice finishes 5th in a 200 lap race at Concord (NC) Speedway. Richard wins the pole but finishes 9th.
1978 - Joe Millikan wins the Alabama Sportsman 300 late model sportsman race from the pole at Talladega driving a Petty Enterprises #04 Dodge Charger.
1979 - Richard recovers from a lap 4 wreck to finish 4th in the Winston 500 at Talladega. Journeyman Buddy Arrington had a career day finishing 3rd in a Dodge. Petty protege and Cup rookie Joe Millikan finished 5th.
1984 - Richard finishes 6th in Mike Curb's Pontiac in the Winston 500 - a race that saw 75 lead changes.
1991 - Kyle breaks his leg in a savage multi-car wreck triggered by Ernie Irvan in the Winston 500 at Talladega. I was there sitting on the backstretch. The wreck happened right in front of us. The race was rained out by a Sunday deluge. We returned on Monday only to have this happen.
