1962 - Richard finishes 15th in the Rebel 300 at Darlington. Perhaps more important, a driver with an all-time great racing name - Tubby Gonzales - finishes 19th driving for himself. 1973 - Richard finishes 13th in the Music City 420 at Nashville. A promo picture from that year's Nashville races: 1979 - Richard finishes 2nd to Cale Yarborough in the Sundrop 420 at Nashville. 1984 - Richard finishes 7th and Kyle finishes 11th in the Coors 420 at Nashville. NASCAR had to deal with a victory lane controversy. Neil Bonnett was first declared the winner. But then the decision was reversed and teammate Darrell Waltrip was awarded the win. Interestingly it was a wreck involving Kyle on the next to last lap that led to the confusing finish. 2000 - Adam Petty was killed in a Busch series practice run at New Hampshire International Speedway.
