October 27 - This day in Petty history

1963 - Bob Welborn finishes 2nd in a #41 Petty Plymouth at Orange Speedway in Hillsboro NC. Richard is 6th.

1968 - Richard wins the American 500 at Rockingham.



1973 - Richard finishes 7th in the first IROC race at Riverside driving a Porsche. See photo and brief write-up here: crunch22.blogspot.com/2009/02/first-iroc.html

1996 - Bobby Hamilton wins the Dura Lube 500 at Phoenix in the #43 STP Pontiac.



The car was later restored and given to Bobby by Richard and Kyle. Bobby had it on display at his shop in Mt. Juliet, TN. I took my son's picture by it. And I was fortunate to have it signed both by the King and by Hamilton before he passed away.



1997 - Bobby Hamilton wins the AC Delco 500 at Rockingham in the #43 STP Pontiac.



Additional trivia: 1996/1997 wins - Future Petty driver Bobby Labonte was pole winner in both races in both years.

GREAT pics! I was reminded by the autographs that when RP was driving, he signed the 43 in his autograph. When he retired, he stopped putting the 43 on the end of the "y".
