1965 - On this day, nothing happened in Petty history. The Grand National season started at Riverside; however, Richard was not entered because of Chrysler's boycott of Grand National racing.

Wow! One of very very few. But it is something to know nothing happened on this day. Great job PC!

Well even though nothing truly happened on January 17, let's not waste the day without some sort of Petty memory. How about when Adam ran the truck race at Richmond in 1998? Sharing a garage stall with Jimmy Hensley's Petty #43 Front fender The might-have-been future

How did Adam do in that race? And yes, I cried the day Adam died and a part of me died with him. I am hoping this year and success will give Richard back the good side of racing that was taken when Adam died and with the financial problems.

Richard, like Job, has remained faithful in good times as well as those times when he lost so much of what he had. Petty Enterprises is gone, Adam was taken, financial troubles, drivers leaving, and Lynda's health. Perhaps, like Job, Richard Petty will be rewarded for his faithfulness with renewed success.

For the record, Adam started 25th and finished 10th at Richmond - his first of only two truck races. Both were in 1999. The 2nd one was at Texas Motor Speedway. Hensley finished 15th in the 43 Dodge.

Gotta admit I love the truck races. Don't get to watch too many as wife says I can watch one a week. And we know what that one is. Danica doesn't pull me to Nationwide at all. If it was only the Nationwide drivers I would watch but the cup drivers ruin it for me.

I really do love the truck races and remember Hensley in the 43 Dodge I am a Todd Bodine fan and wish he was in a Dodge, not a toyo fan but they do run. Mark Martin is going to run some truck races this year so I will be hoping for him to run good

Mark usually runs good in anything. I think he was wishing he was part time in trucks or something. But I don't blame him for finishing out his contract at HMS. I just wonder if crybaby Kasey will actually last a whole year at Red Bull.

They considered it but Mark has lawyers too and they won. Besides, it will be fun to watch Kasey whine!
