1959 - Lee Petty wins the inaugural Daytona 500 in a photo finish with Johnny Beauchamp.

1970 - Pete Hamilton wins the Daytona 500 in the #40 Petty Plymouth Superbird.

1981 - Richard finishes 3rd behind DW and Ricky Rudd in the Richmond 400.
