Thanks Rick!
Petty's last Plymouth! I really like the Satellite. Blasphemy to some, but I like it even more than the Charger.
The Satellite was the last of the full Petty Blue cars, right? First time out with STP they just had big STP ovals on the car.

Also a beautiful car. I also thought the Sattelite was a good looking car.

This is one of Richard's 1972 Satellites after a full restoration. This car was driven to victory at Richmond and Riverside Raceway in 1972. The restoration was documented and overseen by Petty Enterprises. The last I read, you can see this car at Crevier Classic Cars in Costa Mesa www.crevierclassiccars.com/The last full Petty Blue car...

And here she is running with the first STP sponsorship. Shameless Plug time...these images are from Turbo's Racing Photos www.turbosracingphotos.com/OLDSTOCK/rpetty.htmYou can buy prints from Turbo's. I purchased a few of the 1965 Satellite and can attest to the quality of the prints. This is the Petty page...but Turbo's has tons of stuff. Turbo's says these images are from Riverside in 1972, at the Winston Western 500 in Jan 1972. This was the first race that STP sponsored the car. Richard won the race.

I'm inspired by your photo collection. So I've worked harder on my own.

Riverside was a great race. Now it is cookie cutter cookie cutter find a new place to build an empty racetrack.

No offence here Paul, the emoticon came up autmatically when I used multiple exclamation points. I fixed it.

Riverside...Nascar Video from 1965.
Since this is 1965, it's pretty much a Ford show.
But watch it to the end for an AJ Foyt "no brakes" flight off the course ending in an end-over-end crash.

This shot is from the 1972 Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono, a USAC race. Petty participated in some of the USAC stock car races at Pocono prior to NASCAR adding that track to the schedule.
