Welp I've been gone for a week or so I see the change hasn't had any effect yet. Another 27th qualifying position. I watched some of the qualifying he was 12th for a brief moment I think he was around 12th to come out on the track.
Good initial green flag run he will be a lap down around 40 laps.
A real shame but that's the way it is.

We look forward to your Charlotte reports Lugnut!
Dan, Dover qualifying was rained out. Aric's 27th starting position was based on season standings. Still a sign of a disappointing year!
That said, starting 27th and finishing 16th isn't horrible.

These guys must be paid to be optimists. Here are Aric's post-Dover comments:
"We had a great No. 43 Smithfield Ford yesterday at Dover International Speedway. It was especially great on restarts, and I was moving through the field pretty well. That loose wheel killed our chances there towards the end, but Drew's decision to try and make it on fuel from that point on was definitely the best call. We weren't going to get back on the lead lap, but we wanted to get back as many positions as we could. We've been working to turn our season around, and I think we've hit on something. We've had really strong cars two weeks in a row. I'm looking forward to heading to Charlotte Motor Speedway this week and continuing to run well."

LOL, paid optimists. I agree hahaha. Yesterday Aric did get a couple of good restarts, to me it weren't nothing to write home about, but that was a lot better than he normally is on restarts. Lap time wise, he had a good car yesterday. His lap times a lot were top five times consistently all day. What ruined them yesterday, was again, themselves. The pit crew lost him several spots on the first caution pitstop, and then they had a loose wheel on the next run and had to make an unscheduled pitstop, which put them 3 laps down. The way these toyotas, and the 48 yesterday, were in another zip code putting all but 6 cars a lap down, being 3 laps down, you're just not gonna make that up. Especially with the lack of cautions. All in all, its baby steps, but they definitely ran better on track yesterday, they just can't stop making mistakes as a team for some reason. I see pit crew changes coming this week. These mistakes by them this year have been the worse I've ever seen them. I think it's time to move some pit guys around. We'll see.
