I think you can see more how Richard does not have the "say so" that a lot of people want him to have in RPM. I would bet AJ will get the 43, I would also guess that the 44 may go away and become 98.

I don't think it matters who drives the"43" Menard is just as good as a driver as AJ is. IMO.

If menards daddy wants his money to go to his son in the "43" then thats what needs to happen. Thats all it's about in that business now anyways. It hasn't been about the love of the sport or racing in a VERY long time.

And this folks, is why they call it silly season. The speculation is fun though.

As many have written, a major factor is sponsor dollars. But one of the things the sponsor buys when funding RPM, in particular the #43, is Richard himself. So while he may not have the "last word" on a driver for the 43. His opinion will be listened to very closely.

If Menards (should that be Menard$ ?) wanted to move their primary sponsorship to the 43, that does HAVE to mean Paul Menard will be behind the wheel. He'll be driving an RPM car, but I still don't think it will be the 43.

Since this is silly season...I'd like to see the 43 be the primary car of the four RPM cars (like the Budweiser 9 is now). Move Kasey to the 43, primary sponsor to be determined, but I could live with Menards...so long as they ditch the horrid yellow). Put AJ in the 9 with Bud.

That said, I'm sure it'll never happen. Budweiser probably has Kasey under a personal services contract in addition to being the primary sponsor on the car.
