Six laps to go, all four cars on the lead lap, racing for top 15, and all four wiped out in the same incident. This is depressing. Even Kool Aid won't make this go away. We can thank Kurt Busch for putting Kasey out of the top ten, and the big one looks like it started with Elliot bump drafting Junior. This stinks (for lack of a more vulgar phrase). Interesting interviews with RPM drivers during the red flag. AJ says its hard to compete when you don't have the horses under the hood, and Kasey slamming NASCAR for throwing the yellow that started the whole mess. There may be some backlash from those comments.

A lot of frustration for sure. Kasey with the way things have caved in and the others for having to try to make up for better engines and all. The boys all drove thier hearts out today. It didn't end well. But those like us will remember that we wre a lot better than that. Making Kool-Aid anyway, Rev. This is when we need it most. Not telling what is in it!

Our future hopes lie with Ford (can't believe I just wrote that). I can't wait to see if we get AJ in a Ford before the end of this season. Maybe that will give him the horsepower he is looking for. Our drivers worked themselves into very good positions near the end of the race. That is a credit to their abilities and the hard work of their crews and crew chiefs. Now that my blood pressure has abated somewhat, I realize this. You are right, Rick. They ran well and were taken out by unfortunate circumstances. Better days are ahead for this race team. We've come a long way in just one year.

It looks like kasey,s pretty much done for the chase, after this mess. All that wait for the new engine and they cant use without it blowing up.I cant wait for the switch to ford.

There's still races to be won. There are three people in this group that haven't won a race in god knows how long and two that have NEVER won. Chase my foot someone better show me the same effort if not more....... that's if I'm paying the bills. These people are making HUGE money. If they get that full of themselves because they aren't in the chase and are but have no hance of winning the cup... hey how about winning a race. Gee might even impress a sponsor. pb

Let me temper what I said above a little bit, I think I'm sensing so much about this chase deal. Iin some interviews it seems some drivers are only interested if they are in the chase,,,,, not just our drivers either. There are some guys that are going to lose their ride because they have not won or placed well enough. They need to watch some of the Richard Petty replays when he got taken out. His standard comment seemed so simple. We'll be back next week and get'em then. I must have seen a hundred interviews and RP always acted like the next week was the start of the season. Even after the rumble with Pearson at Daytona he kept his cool didn;t blame no one. (it must have ben tough though). He has admitted in a couple serious interviews he moverd up on David hoping he would give a little. That was all Richard needed to maintain his momentum and I think he would gave won that race. Bbuuuut not to be....... but there's some of these guys that really need to grow up. pb

Richard always had his head in the right place.
The most important race was always "...the NEXT one...."
Take what happened today and put it behind you. A wreck today doesn't mean you will wreck next weekend, just like a win today doesn't mean you'll win next weekend.

Nice job PB very nice inputs indeed!
That is what I like about this place is that every single member brings things to the table.
But yes, Richard took his bad breaks in style, always knowing there would be a next week. He has taught Kasey to influence the things you can and just let the rest go.

I too was disappointed with the last 10 laps.......its all the race I got to see..........was helping parents build a storage shed all weekend. It is a shame we fell back due to the accidents..........BUT lets not forget, we were running in contention..............if we would have been laps down and in the back we could have avoided that accident............. which is better

Good point, Don. I said pretty much the same thing on the "other" forum. better to have cars running in contention than multiple laps down. We are much better off than we were one year ago. Getting wiped out is frustrating, for sure, but being there to get wiped out is a very positive sign of the future of Richard Petty Motorsports. We are players again.
