This is an answer to Rick in a reply he gave at the end of History IV. It was the kind of reply that should have been a main thread so here it is.
From Rick Lou.
Thanks for the replies fella's.
There will be one more in this series of Champions plus a closing epilogue.
The Hall of Fame announcements will happen on the 14th and I feel that 4 of the 5 inductees have been displayed with this series. Bill France should be the first and rightly so.
Tom, you have created the opportunity to show some of this history and are the Cheer leader for us. Paul, you have established yourself as our resident statatician and keep us up to date with current events surrounding Cup racing.
Everyone here adds color to this small slice of what we like. This place for us is just like some down home cookin and I love it.
Thanks again

Indeed, this is home for us. Your writing and pics surely do that part. Hoping we will all work some with our talents and likes here. I think that if we do we will find that a lot of people will come here for the quality and accuracy of the pics, reads, stats and all. This is doable very easily. Also finding that the heart of this place with all of the differences in ages and all of the members. We have people from each generation here, all respected and none afraid to just step up and post something that means something to them. Hoping they will soon see that thier thoughts are as important as any. I know many are beginning to. That is what here is. Each one doing a part, and the nicest thing is we have to do nearly nothing as admins. There is a little like archiving the good stuff. Well maybe that is more than a little. And it is done right. That is such a valuable part of it all. Rick and Paul. . . Don and Chili and Brett and every single one. It is true we are all valued members here. Yes it hurt to leave the old one and it still does. Sometimes good people just get caught up in stuff that has a way of tripping people up. No bad and not any really good. Like the Petty family and the problems the folding of the business has brought. All good people. Every one. Not ready for Barack's changes yet and don't really think I ever will be but I love what we have here.

I think we can also come up with some good racing and non racing ideas for the winter season. You now, that dark time without racing. . . So many facets and all to life. So many things that have meaning. . . I guess you get the idea. But even better you will all have ideas and bring them here. That is what here is.

How could we forget our friends. I don't think that will happen. This is fun.

And furret, the lesser known third cousin. Thanks Rick, but you give me too much credit as "team statistician". I just know where to go to find info real statisticians gather! I do agree we each contribute whatever the heck manages to strike our own fancy. This is a cool place to hang out!

For sure having this place is a good thing where we can just let it rip.
Our group is small but a good fit and we are here for the right reasons, because we are Petty Fans and because we want to ....squirrells and all.

agree. I feel as though I have known you guys for a long time. I truly value each of you as a friend, even though I have never personally met you. This is a tribute in itself to RP!

Tom, did you notice that you had the first three posts on this thread? Do you talk to yourself like that often? You may be hanging out with the squirrels a little too much. Your points are well taken. This is a place of community. A group of people spread out over half the country with a common purpose. We support the Petty family and all the things they do. I am very happy that I found the old PE forum, and I am proud to have received an invitation to join this family. Thank you. I think we'll have plenty to talk about in the off season, with the Ford deal pending, drivers, sponsorships, and whatever George Gillette comes up with next, like the Richard Petty Camel Racing Experience.

Yes, I do talk to myself often. Once I was building a new front porch for our old house. Didn't have any help so I just became Bill and Irv, handing tools and measuring together and all.
Judy heard me out there and just told me she had to help me with that work which was really good to have.
But yes, I do talk to things I am working on . Most times I call the latest model of the teleconferencing gear at work "Emma". There was a lady, "Emma Jones" who was a book keeper for a company I worked at in the early seventies. She was in her seventies and was such a nice lady that every main product I have worked on since has been Emma. Testing phone attributes on the units I use a simulator called Emma Bell.
And when the sales guys and execs have appointments with really top people at corporations such a Microsoft and others I always take thier unit to clean up. I just tell them I have to get Emma ready for the prom.
Oh well. Pain pills are talking right now. Thankfully I will only need them three or four days but right now the pain level is intense even with them.
Til they run out watch out for novel length posts.

Way back in the dark ages...my dad's office bought their first computer.
It was quickly named "Fred", which stood for "F----ng Ridiculous Electronic Device"
And Tom, some of the best writing in the world appears to have been created under the influence! So we look forward to your posts for the next couple days.
And we pray this latest round in your battle ends well!
