•Menard says he will not be going to #07 car: #98-Paul Menard denied speculation that he is a candidate to replace #07-Casey Mears in the fourth car [Chevy] at Richard Childress Racing next season. Reports this past weekend from Dover International Speedway had Menard, sponsored by his father's company, touring the RCR facility in Welcome, N.C. He supposedly is unhappy with the merger between Yates and Richard Petty Motorsports and is looking for a new home.(see more at ESPN Insider)(9-28-2009)

Welcome to RPM!!! Get yo stuff and get the hell out. We didnt want Menard in the first place. If we have to run a Yates # then make it #28 and put a guy with class from the NWS or maybe someone who needs some stability like Bobby Labonte or maybe even Casey Mears.

They do not call it Silly Season for nothing.
Menard needs to look at Dover's rundown with two RPM cars in the top tem. Top tenning at Dover means that the cars are set up properly. A good sign. AJ's car was hooked up big time on the bottom.

I don't mind to see daddy's money come to RPM, I thought there was an article on Nascar.com that interviewed him and he had said that the Merger between the two was a good fit for both teams and that he was committed to the deal.

Somebody is trying to fabricate a story where there is none. Menards is signed at Yates through 2010. Unless there is some sort of out clause in the contracts, Menards is not going anywhere. Besides, what's the old cliche'? Beggars cannot be Choosers?

I'm betting he meant Paul Menard is the "beggar"
The Menard's sponsorship dollars are welcome. But it seems lots of folks would prefer someone other than Paul Menard behind the wheel. I don't know enough about Paul M to comment on that.
Hey, my initials are the same. I'll take the wheel! I've got 8 laps in at RPDE. Is that enough?

Your 8 laps at RPDE probably outweigh Menard's however many Cup starts. Come on down!

What is so great about Menards money. we dont even now how much money it really is. and if it was a buch of it I am sure he could have bought some better equipment or even started his own team. I think the money is a non issue. Money also does not ALWAYS make the car go faster you got to have a driver too that knows how to get the best out of his equipment. Altman43

We still don't know how much Menard's specifically pays, but howstuffworks.com estimates a primary sponsor drops $350,000 to $500,000 per race. 36 races at $350k per race is over $12.5 million. Full season deals come in lower than the "per race" numbers. But they still have to be in the millions. auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-racing/nascar/nascar-basics/nascar-sponsorship.htmauto.howstuffworks.com/auto-racing/nascar/nascar-basics/nascar-sponsorship.htmExcerpt From the linked article: That's right -- being a primary sponsor of a team costs $350,000 to $500,000 per race, although corporations can usually cut a deal to sponsor a team for a full season. That means the sponsor gets to choose the paint scheme of the car, put the logo all over it, and use the driver's likeness in advertising for the product or service they want to promote. It is possible to be the primary sponsor for just one race, and for your half a million-dollar investment, the car will change its appearance for just that one venue. And in an article on yahoo sports, the write estimates a full season primary could have run $20 to $25 million a season, which is why even Dupont is not the primary on Gordon 's car at every race. sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=bm-nascarmoney070208&prov=yhoo&type=lgnsSo regardless of the details, I'd say that is what is so great about Menard's money. They are a committed sponsor, along for most of the year. There's no way you can look at a top or even second rank Nascar team today and say the money is a non-issue. Teams need sponsors. Period. And deep pockets are diminishing, and becoming lesss deep.
